The altar servers assist the priest during the Mass and other liturgical celebrations, and occupy a privileged place in the celebration of the Mass. Jesus is present and active in every liturgy. Therefore, the altar servers are the servants of Jesus, the eternal High Priest. Servers should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities and to carry them out well and with appropriate reverence. Training is required before you are eligible to serve. Initial trainings are offered to youth in 4th through 12th grades and to adults of all ages. Trainings take place three to four times each year. For youth signing up to serve, parents need to be partners in assuring that their children are faithful to their commitments and reverent in their responsibilities.
